Medicinal herbs

Learning about Phytotherapy (the use of plant extracts from natural origins as medicines) is a part of Pharmaceutical Studies. I was able to both deepen and apply the knowledge that I gained during my education by working in a pharmacy.

Spagyric

Plant alchemy, or spagyric, is a holistic natural healing method. The term spagyric stems from the Greek words “spao”, to separate, and “ageiro”, meaning to reunite and its roots lie in pre-Christian times. In the Middle Ages it was treated in the same way as alchemy. In a special manufacturing process the active compounds of the plants are first separated, then worked and later reunited. The healing effect of the plant is thus brought out and increased and a spagyric essence is produced.

For each person an individual mixture is made, according to their symptoms, in a form of a spray, which is applied to the mouth where it is ingested through the mucous membrane. The mixture is very well suited for adolescents and children.

 Biochemical cell Salts

In the 19th Century a German doctor, Willhelm Heinrich Schuessler, developed a treatment that he called “biochemistry”, which he had discovered as a result of his long-term observation of and research on patients.

He assumed that the cause of disease is in large part due to a disturbed mineral equilibrium in the body and the cells, where the lack of a certain mineral can affect the whole metabolism. Based on his observations he developed 12 different mineral salts, which he used in diluted form. Although the salts are diluted like homeopathic compounds, they are not classed as such, because they do not act according to the “like cures like” principle of homeopathy.

The salts are available as tablets and liquids for internal use, as well as creams and lotions for external application. The choice of the salt is made according to clinical indication and is well suited for children and during pregnancy.
